Job description

Zander Labs is a leader in neuroadaptive technology, pioneering innovative solutions to enhance human-computer interaction. We are embarking on the NAFAS project, a landmark 30 million EUR initiative set to revolutionize the field.

We are looking for a passionate and inventive neuroengineer with at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience, ample knowledge of current (non-invasive) brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies and a strong background in biomedical sciences, or neuroscience, or computer science, to join our multidisciplinary research team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of novel everyday out-of-the-lab applications of BCI technology for the enhancement of human-computer interaction. Our main challenge is to create robust methodologies that extract ongoing cognitive and affective aspects of the human mind from the electroencephalogram (EEG).

As neuroengineer, your task will include (among others):

  • Design, implementation, and evaluation of signal processing pipelines and machine learning approaches suitable for EEG analysis; with focus on artefact identification, artefact reduction/correction, as well as robust feature extraction and classification.

  • Analysis, optimization, and eventual automation of existing EEG analysis methods.

  • Design and preliminary implementation of signal processing pipelines for various types of biosignals, besides EEG.

  • High-level design of novel training paradigms for BCI technology.

  • Design and execution of scientific research with human subjects, in-house or on-site.

  • Execution, analysis, and presentation of scientific literature reviews.

  • Preparation and revision of internal/external scientific reports, project deliverables, etc.

  • Creation and presentation of training material for junior staff (e.g. research assistants).

  • Proactive identification of unexplored use cases of BCI technology for everyday tasks.

Job requirements

  • Postgraduate studies in biomedical sciences, or neuroscience, or computer science, or a related field

  • At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience

  • Proven experience with BCI technology

  • Proven experience with common software applications for EEG analysis (e.g EEGLAB, Fieldtrip, MNE Python, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Python and the Lab Streaming Layer are a plus

  • Experience with large-scale data analysis is a plus

  • Knowledge of machine learning, pattern recognition, statistical inference

  • Knowledge of biosignal processing

  • Knowledge of multivariate signal analysis

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Excellent command (written and spoken) of English language
